The "interior bike rack" is suitable for a wide range of car models from a total of 24 manufacturers, from Audi to Volvo. The system, which can be used to transport up to four bikes depending on the size of the interior, is based on an aluminium rail with one or more brackets in which the fork is fixed using quick-release clamps. The load is secured using lashing straps that are lashed in the interior. In our test vehicle, the new Golf 6, the main rail is firmly connected to the retaining eyelets on the rear bench using hooks and knurled nuts. Depending on the wheel type and size, the fork rails can be moved steplessly in the main rail and the fork holders can be swivelled so that several wheels can be stowed close together. Two road bikes and luggage fit easily into the Golf in this way, but the space at the top quickly becomes tight, especially for mountain bikes with a lot of suspension travel or trekking bikes. If you don't need the carrier, it can be stowed away to save space. The system works even better with estate cars or vans.
PLUS: Variable; favourable; requires little storage space
MINUS: A little wobbly without a fixed rail in the loading area
