Is Continental following an AI trend with the Pogacar special edition of the Grand Prix 5000 S TR? Action figures, which were particularly popular collectables in the 1980s and 1990s, enjoyed a renaissance in 2025 when the trend for AI action figures took off. Now, about a year later, there’s a collectable figure of the Slovenian star to go with the tyre. Has Continental taken its inspiration from this trend? It’s certainly a nice extra for fans.
The collaboration with Tadej Pogačar is particularly evident in the design: as well as its own ‘Pogi’ logo, the tyre features, according to Continental, hundreds of small Pogačar logos within the ‘Grand Prix 5000 S-TR’ lettering.
In terms of features, Continental lists the technologies familiar from the standard model: the BlackChili rubber compound, the Vectran Breaker as a puncture-protection insert, as well as Active Comfort and Lazer Grip. The manufacturer has not announced any technical changes compared with the standard GP 5000 S TR. Consequently, no additional benefits in terms of rolling resistance, grip or puncture protection can be inferred from this special edition.
The edition forms part of Continental’s ‘Share the Road’ campaign. It aims to promote greater consideration and respectful coexistence on the roads. The campaign’s ambassador is ‘Pogi’, a character developed in collaboration with Pogačar, who also features in animated short stories.
A collectable figure is included in every pack. Continental points out that this is not a toy.
