The lightweight crank from the German carbon specialist THM comes in a new evolutionary stage. The Clavicula SE is stiffer and, of course, lighter.

The suffix SE stands for "sine exceptione" and refers to the latest generation of the Clavicula crank. Particular attention was paid to optimising the spider for the chainring mount, which is intended to offer more lateral stiffness for better shifting performance. The integrated carbon bottom bracket shaft is now connected to the left crank arm without an aluminium sleeve. The multi-tooth connection is patented and, with an identical fibre structure of the external and internal toothing, should practically exclude relative movement of the components. THM promises that no noise can occur at this point and that there is almost no wear. The compact version of the crankset with a 110-millimetre bolt circle weighs just under 500 grams including Praxis Works chainrings and BSA bearings. It is compatible with all common bearing standards and will be on sale from spring 2015 for around €1,270.
