The self-confident statement is no exaggeration: Schmolke specifies between 135 and 155 grams for the eight variants - four versions adapted to the rider's weight, each in two widths. Our test specimen, 42 centimetres wide, weighs 146 grams and thus plays in the highest lightweight league. The shape of the Evo is contemporary: the compact lower handlebar fits in with modern frame geometries, the transition to the shift brake levers is harmonious and the oval upper handlebar provides a comfortable place for your hands. Of course, the lightweight bike needs to be handled with care: The specified torque of four Newton metres for the stem and levers should not be exceeded if at all possible to avoid damaging the material; an extra reinforced version is available for clamped triathlon attachments.
