After SHIMANO discovered that under certain conditions cracks can occur in some batches of the PRO Vibe stem (aluminium) sold since May 2020, the company is asking customers to stop riding bikes with this stem. The products affected by the recall can be recognised by the conspicuous, silver-coloured V-marking on the clamping plate of the stem and the forward-facing fastening screws.
Reason for the recall: cracks can form in the clamping area of the head tube due to corrosion.
If such a crack is not detected by the user in time, it could enlarge and the stem could break.
Anyone who has purchased a PRO Vibe stem (aluminium) and fitted it to their bike should no longer ride the bike. The following information can be used to identify whether the stem is affected by the recall.

If your stem is affected by the recall, you must no longer use it. Shimano is asking customers to contact the dealer where the product was purchased and return the affected product. According to Shimano, dealers can offer another stem as a replacement (depending on availability) or refund the purchase price.
