New products to touch are rare at the Campagnolo stand this year. At first glance, almost nothing has changed in the Italian component manufacturer's range; after all, the groupsets have only recently been renovated. But there is still one highlight to see: The free MyEPS app allows you to play around with the new EPS drivetrains. The many possibilities are inspiring.

The basis for the app is a new DTI interface - that's what Campagnolo calls the little box on the stem - which now also has a connection for charging the battery. An additional hole in the frame as before is no longer necessary. The battery has become even slimmer, so that it now also fits into the very flat seat tubes of some aero frames. And that's it for the changes to the EPS versions of the Super Record, Record and Chorus in the third generation. But the real highlight is inside the hardware: the drivetrain can be connected to a laptop, tablet or smartphone via Bluetooth, and the associated MyEPS app is a diagnostic, setting and analysis tool with a huge range of functions.

For example, the assignment of the control buttons can be changed. There are six different preset configurations that allow, for example, both shifting components to be operated with just one hand (the mode button on the inside of the lever then triggers the front derailleur), or the rear derailleur to be controlled with the finger levers on the right and left, while the front derailleur is operated with the thumb levers.

The speed of both servomotors can also be set individually, which has the effect of making shifting feel harder and more direct or softer and smoother. The multishift function, which allows shifting across several sprockets at the touch of a button, can also be configured in terms of speed, maximum number of sprockets and the delay time after the first shift.

During the ride, for example, it is possible to display the gear engaged or the current gear ratio, which can also be mirrored to a bike computer via ANT+. An integrated counter shows the number of gear changes made by the rear derailleur and front derailleur. With a GPS connection, you can analyse after the ride which routes and at which points you had applied which gear ratio. A diagnostic tool is also integrated, which checks the operational readiness and informs you if a component is defective.

The app is initially available free of charge for Android, operation is self-explanatory and child's play. Older EPS circuits can be upgraded, but you will then need the new power unit (battery) and the DTI box with wireless technology.
