Test 2016: "Sa Calobra" vest from Best Piece
Vests for the cold season have to work, but otherwise offer little to discuss. The Sa Calobra model from Best Piece Guard is different.
The long-sleeved vest made from a very elasticated polyamide/elastane blend is extended downwards at the front by a pouch-like piece of fabric to keep warm what could otherwise easily freeze. Although the idea is understandable, it reveals its pitfalls in practice. All three testers complained that sooner or later the fabric pouch would simply ride up; in addition, the additional layer of fabric with a bulky edge seam caused unsightly red welts in the crotch after prolonged use. All testers would prefer trousers with sufficient padding and/or a windproof layer to protect the genitals.
