The material of the two X-Bionic products is striking: The "Fennec" jersey feels rather thick and warm to the touch - which could initially be off-putting in summer temperatures. The matching "Bib Tight Short" also feels as fluffy as if you were wearing functional underwear - which the testers initially criticised. But the winter feel is deceptive. The special knitting pattern that the Swiss developed for the jersey and the thigh and back sections of the shorts, which is designed to optimally regulate the athlete's heat balance, seems to work: The test riders felt very comfortable in both garments, even in summer temperatures, and sweat quickly seeped out through the fabric. The trousers in particular stood out due to their wide temperature range: When it's cold, they provide a little warmth, while in the heat you don't feel any heat build-up despite the rather thick fabric. The padding is of medium thickness and rather slim in shape, which should convince frequent riders.
The testers rated the comfort and fit of both the "Fennec" and the "Bib Tight" positively - especially the well-positioned and very elasticated straps of the trousers. The zip hidden under the fabric on the jersey collar is very comfortable, and the reflective piping is also good. Disadvantage of the soft material: the three back pockets of the jersey give a little too much when full and the zip is a little more difficult to operate.
