Adidas Sport Eyewear is launching two new sports glasses with the Powervizn Lens System: the Alkator features a distinctive shield shape and adjustable nose pads - ideal for gravel bikers who need a secure fit and a wide field of vision on changing surfaces. The Kentro comes in a full-rim design and is aimed more at runners and tarmac athletes.

Adidas Sport Eyewear has introduced two new eyewear models for different areas of use. The ALKATOR SP0124 was developed for use on mountain bikes and gravel bikes, the KENTRO SP0123 for runners and tarmac sports. Both models cost 155 euros and are available in six different colours.

POWERVIZN Lens System

The POWERVIZN Lens System forms the technical basis of both glasses. The lenses utilise a special base tint based on high contrast technology. A precision mirror coating regulates light transmission and reduces glare. Hydrophobic and oleophobic coatings repel water, sweat and dirt. The lenses are adapted to different light conditions and types of terrain.

The ALKATOR uses a wide shield shape designed to widen the peripheral field of vision. Adjustable nose pads allow for customisation. Rubberised temple tips and non-slip contact points are designed to ensure a secure grip. The frame is made of TR90 material. A ventilation system on the frame is designed to prevent the lenses from misting up. A clip-in option allows the integration of prescription lenses.

The SP0124 82Z variant uses a violet contrast base with a blue mirror. Filter category 3 achieves a light transmission of 17 per cent. This version is intended for trail and tarmac use in bright light. The SP0124 02L variant uses a brown lens with a red mirror coating. It enhances red, yellow and blue tones and achieves a light transmission of 15 per cent with filter category 3 >> available here.

The KENTRO SP0123 uses a full rim design. Rubberised nose pads and temple tips can be adjusted. The TR90 frame is designed to combine robustness with low weight. Ventilation openings on the upper frame and temples are designed to ensure air circulation and prevent fogging.

The SP0123 91X variant utilises a smoke tint with a blue mirror coating. It offers neutral contrasts and achieves 14 per cent light transmission with filter category 3. This version is designed for asphalt, snow and water in bright light. The SP0123 26Z variant uses a pink base tint. It enhances colours and contours and achieves 12 percent light transmission. It is intended for unpaved trails and snowy ground >> available here.

The SP0123 47G version uses a brown base tint with a golden mirror coating. It enhances red, yellow and blue tones and achieves 15 per cent light transmission with filter category 3. This version is designed for all surfaces in bright light >> available here.

Technology and coatings

The coatings are designed to minimise the disruptive effects of water, sweat and dirt. The precision mirror coating regulates the light transmission between 12 and 37 per cent, depending on the variant. The High Contrast technology is designed to enhance contrasts and support depth perception.

The filter categories range from 2 to 3. Category 2 is suitable for changing light conditions, category 3 for bright light. The VLT values indicate how much visible light penetrates through the lenses. Lower values mean stronger tinting.
