Evil Eye presents a new technology for sports glasses with the new Vario Shield adapter. It attempts to solve an annoying problem for outdoor sports enthusiasts with defective vision. The adapter makes it possible to combine Shield models with self-tinting varifocal lenses and individual prescription.

Previously, this combination was only possible using a less elegant clip-in system. The new Vario Shield adapter now integrates the optical lens seamlessly into the design of the glasses, thus ensuring a more consistent appearance. This solution is aimed at sportsmen and women who are looking for aesthetically pleasing yet high-performance sports eyewear, says the manufacturer.

Vario Shield adapter - made for outdoor sports enthusiasts

The Vario Shield adapter offers a number of advantages for outdoor sports enthusiasts. The field of vision always remains wide and unrestricted, which is particularly important for dynamic sports such as road cycling or gravel biking.

The photochromatic Vario filters adapt automatically and continuously to changing light and weather conditions. This ensures optimum vision in bright sunshine as well as in cloudy skies or at dusk.

Experience has shown that photochromic lenses are less suitable for very rapidly changing light conditions. Example: A fast trail ride through the forest, when light and shade change at very short intervals. In this case, photochromic lenses do not react quickly enough.

Evil Eye relies on a special combination of materials for the construction of the Vario Shield adapter: polyamide is intended to provide the necessary stability and flexibility of the adapter. This material is known for its high resilience and dimensional stability, which is particularly important for outdoor use.

Polycarbonate is used for the optically ground-in filters. This material is characterised by its low weight and high scratch resistance. According to the manufacturer, the combination of these two materials should not only offer excellent performance, but also a high-quality appearance that meets the demands of ambitious sportsmen and women.

Focus on sustainability

Another advantage of the Vario Shield adapter is its sustainable design. During development, Evil Eye made sure that only the optically ground lenses need to be replaced if the prescription changes, which reduces the consumption of resources.

It also allows athletes to use their glasses model over a longer period of time without having to replace the entire pair. In this way, Evil Eye wants to emphasise its commitment to environmentally friendly and sustainable production in the sports eyewear sector.
