The new BOA twist locks on the 2024 model are instantly recognisable. Specialized has installed the BOA Li2 fasteners in the Torch 3.0 shoes, which can be adjusted in stages and in both directions. The cable routing has also been changed on the Torch 3.0, which follows the S-Works Torch. In the model family, the shoes are positioned below the higher-quality S-Works Torch - the model already had the BOA Li2 fasteners. Both the Specialized Torch 3.0 and the Torch 2.0 are equipped with a carbon sole. However, the sole of the more expensive model is a higher-quality carbon and is said to be stiffer. The modified upper material of both models is perforated with a laser to improve air circulation inside the shoes. Both models are available in black and white. The Torch 2.0 is also available in dark blue and light grey and the Torch 3.0 in two multi-coloured variants.
The racing shoe has an improved carbon sole, two BOA twist fasteners and a one-piece upper. The mesh upper is made of TPU plastic. The model is priced below the S-Works Torch but above the Torch 2.0 model. Specialized promises that the carbon fibres in the carbon sole of the Torch 3.0 are unidirectional and that "in terms of stiffness, emphasis is placed on one direction." According to Specialized, the Torch 3.0 weighs 248 grams in size 42. The official retail price is 250 euros >> e.g. at Bike components available.
According to Specialized, the Torch 2.0 was developed for "riders who have just discovered the joy of road cycling", i.e. for beginners. They are also equipped with the new Li2 twist locks from BOA. The carbon sole is made of woven carbon fibres. The shoe is lighter than its more expensive model: according to Specialized, it weighs 235 grams in size 42. The official retail price is 200 euros >> e.g. available from Bike-Components.
Specialized used its "Body Geometry Technology" in the development of both shoes. With an integrated, 1.5 mm high Varus wedge on the inside of the foot, the shoes are designed to stabilise the natural movement of the forefoot and improve foot, knee and hip alignment. Specialized also promises stable longitudinal arch support. A built-in "metatarsal pad" is designed to prevent the foot nerves and arteries from being pinched or compressed and thus numb feet.
