With the top model "Nova 2", the Italian shoe manufacturer Chain presents an attractive road bike shoe with a stiff carbon sole at a price of 129 euros. The fastening consists of two Velcro straps and an adjustable ratchet. The shoe with its elegant patent look is available in a total of 17 sizes; a pair in size 43 weighs 690 grams.
The shoe has a normal width, the heel area is extra reinforced on the outside and well padded on the inside. Although the shoe pinched in the area of the ratchet buckle when we first tried it on standing up, the feeling disappeared during the ride. The elasticated area at the end of the tongue is comfortable, so nothing rubs against the instep. Mesh inserts distributed throughout the shoe and openings in the sole allow cooling air to reach the feet. Practical: the smooth surface is easy to clean.
