With the Sidi Prima 2 and the Prima 2 W, the Italian footwear specialist is expanding its road cycling range with two models designed for everyday use. The focus is on superior comfort, easy adjustment via a twist lock and durable, replaceable components.
Sidi has traditionally been synonymous with sports-oriented road cycling shoes. With the new Prima 2, the brand is now moving in a direction that is slightly more suited to everyday use. The shoe is aimed at cyclists who are looking for a balanced mix of comfort and efficiency on regular training rides, club outings or longer tours. The model is also available as a specially designated Prima 2 W version for female road cyclists.
Easy to use thanks to the twist-lock mechanism
For adjustment, Sidi relies on its in-house NUUN-002M system. The single twist lock is designed to allow for quick and precise fine-tuning and can be operated easily even whilst riding. According to the manufacturer, the focus is on intuitive handling. Thanks to the use of the in-house fastening system, road cyclists can enjoy a twist lock – a feature usually reserved for higher-priced models – for as little as 159 euros.
The upper of the new Prima 2 is made from lightweight microfibre. Together with a 3D mesh tongue, this is designed to ensure good ventilation and a secure fit. According to Sidi, the anatomical design is modelled on the natural shape of the foot and is therefore intended to reduce pressure points and improve support.
Balanced sole stiffness
The new R2NC-2 nylon composite sole is featured on the underside. Sidi quotes a stiffness index of 5. This means the Prima 2 is not positioned as an uncompromising racing shoe for competitive cyclists, but rather as a model for riders who, alongside efficient power transfer, also value comfort on rides and over long distances.
The Cozy Millennium insole promises added comfort. According to the manufacturer, it is designed to provide lasting cushioning and a comfortable fit, even on longer rides.
Replaceable wear parts
A feature that has become rare in many modern road cycling shoes: several components can be replaced. These include the rotor of the fastening system, the insole, the T-slot for the three-hole cleat mounting, and the heel counter. This is designed to extend the shoe’s lifespan and make maintenance easier.
With the Prima 2, Sidi is primarily targeting cyclists who are looking for a straightforward road cycling shoe for long training rides and are less focused on maximum competitive performance.
