Fizik launches the Terra Artica GTX as a winter-proof off-road shoe. The 432 gram shoe combines a waterproof GORE-TEX Koala membrane with a soft fleece lining. An L6 BOA fastener and Velcro fastener at the ankle ensure a precise fit. The revised X5 sole with rubber lugs offers traction on slippery winter trails. Available in sizes 36-48 in black and grape.

Winter-proof body for extreme conditions

Fizik developed the Terra Artica GTX as a special Winter shoe for off-road use in extreme weather conditions. The shoe is aimed at riders who are also out and about in snow, ice and rain on technical trails, gravel tracks or mountain bike tours. The upper is made of high-density PU-laminated material combined with ripstop fabric, which ensures durability and low weight.

The construction focusses on three core areas: Waterproofing, thermal insulation and traction. Fizik combines proven GORE-TEX technology with a specially developed fleece lining and a revised sole structure. The total weight of 432 grams per shoe (without insole) is within the tolerance range of ±3 per cent. The insole weighs an additional 20 grams and can be customised.

The Terra Artica GTX is available, for example, from Mountain time or Decathlon available.

GORE-TEX Koala membrane for breathability

The waterproof GORE-TEX Koala membrane forms the centrepiece of the Terra Artica GTX's weather protection. This insulated membrane prevents water, snow and moisture from penetrating from the outside. At the same time, billions of microscopic pores allow water vapour to escape from the inside of the shoe. This mechanism keeps feet dry and warm even during intense exertion.

Koala technology optimises breathability especially for winter sports. While conventional waterproof membranes often lead to heat build-up, the GORE-TEX system effectively transports perspiration to the outside. The membrane works independently of the temperature and functions both in sub-zero temperatures and in changing conditions between freezing and thawing. Fizik is positioning this technology as a solution for winter tours lasting several hours in rough terrain.

Fleece lining and ergonomic fastening system

The inner lining made of soft, brushed fleece reinforces the insulating effect and increases comfort at low temperatures. This lining acts as an additional barrier against the cold and creates a pleasant microclimate in the shoe. The fleece material transports moisture to the GORE-TEX membrane and prevents the formation of cold zones on the feet.

The L6 BOA twist lock allows precise adjustment even with thick winter gloves. The system works with a single rotary knob that offers stepless adjustment in both directions. An additional Velcro fastener at the ankle secures the upper part of the boot and prevents snow or dirt from entering. This combination of BOA system and Velcro fastening ensures even pressure distribution without pressure points on long rides.

Revised X5 sole for winter traction

Fizik has redesigned the X5 sole specifically for improved traction on slippery winter surfaces. The nylon base with stiffness index 5 offers sufficient power transmission for efficient pedalling. At the same time, the sole remains flexible enough for safe walking on technical passages. The rubber coating covers the entire sole surface including the midfoot area.

Generously dimensioned lugs significantly improve grip on snowy or icy paths. The lug distribution follows a specific pattern that optimises both forward and lateral grip. On steep climbs that require you to push the bike, the sole offers secure grip on loose ground. The rubber compound remains flexible even in sub-zero temperatures and does not harden like conventional sole materials.

Versatile range of applications and sizes

The Terra Artica GTX covers various off-road disciplines: All-Mountain, Cross-Country, Gravel and Bikepacking. This versatility results from the balance between stiffness for power transmission and flexibility for walking comfort. Fizik developed the shoe for riders who switch between different types of terrain in changing conditions.

The size range extends from 36 to 48, with sizes 37 to 47 also available in half sizes. This gradation enables a precise fit even with thicker winter socks. The boot comes in two colour variants: classic black and grape. The generous fit allows for additional layers of insulation and prevents pressure points when riding for several hours in the cold.
