Individual test: Giro cycling shoes
Helmet manufacturer Giro also presented a cycling shoe line for the first time at this year's Eurobike. Of the four available shoe models for road cyclists, our test model "Factor" ranks second in the price hierarchy.

The 650 gram pair comes with an insole that can be adjusted using three wedges of different heights to support the arch of the foot. The shoe closes with two Velcro straps and a ratchet fastener that can be fixed in two positions depending on the instep height. Ventilation is integrated into the flat carbon sole from Easton.

In the practical test, the shoe impressed above all with its individually adjustable arch support - when a lot of force is applied, the foot is pushed through less and tires less quickly. The flat sole allows the foot to expand laterally without creating uncomfortable pressure. The heel hold is good, the tongue edge could be a little more flexible. Those with a sensitive instep may feel slight pressure.

The "Factor" is available in black, red and white in sizes 39 to 48, and in half sizes from 39.5 to 46.5.

PLUSindividually adjustable; good fit

MINUS: stiff tongue end; expensive
