Its carbon sole, which is only four millimetres thick, brings the foot very close to the pedal axle - this is considered ideal for transferring pedalling power as efficiently as possible. At the same time, the shoe is very comfortable despite the ultra-stiff and extremely high sole. The secret is a special resin which, when heated to 70 degrees in the oven, becomes mouldable to such an extent that the shoe can be individually adapted to the foot. As the process can be repeated as often as required, pressure points can also be removed later. On the advice of the importer, we chose our test pair so tightly that the toes bumped slightly at the front when we tried them on. After thermal adjustment, however, the fit was just right. Pressure points on both heels, which appeared after the first long ride, disappeared after repeated adjustment procedures and targeted shaping of the heel caps. The 538 gram lightweight shoes (size 43) are well ventilated. In addition to the usual Look and Shimano SPD-SL sole standard with three threads, the a-one is also available with four threads especially for Speedplay pedals.
