The Aeroweave upper material consists of a high-strength, net-like structure. Now in its second generation, this is even lighter and softer than before, explains Fizik. The construction of nylon fibres and thermoplastic polymers makes the upper shoe vapour-permeable and lightweight. Despite the open weave, the material offers the necessary strength and support for racing.
Fizik uses the Powerstrap system with two wide Velcro fasteners for the closure. These completely enclose the foot and allow individual adjustment for all different foot types and shapes. The fasteners on the instep and in the midfoot area can each be adjusted separately. According to the manufacturer, the fastening straps are now even lighter and more stable than on previous models and promise even pressure distribution and a firm hold.
The R3 carbon sole is used as the outsole. With a stiffness index of 10, it is one of the stiffest soles in the Fizik range and should enable optimum power transfer. Two wide ventilation openings and internal channels are intended to provide cooling. The cleat position has been moved back a little, which according to Fizik is in line with current bike fitting trends. This should optimise pedalling efficiency and reduce knee strain - especially in the aggressive aero position.
According to the manufacturer, the Vento Powerstrap Aeroweave weighs a light 184 grams per shoe in size 42.5 (without insole). It is available in sizes 36 to 48, with sizes 37 to 47 also available in half sizes. The colour options are white and coral. Fizik has not yet provided any information on the recommended retail price or availability.
