With the Fizik Vento Omna Wide, the manufacturer wants to build on the top models. A road cycling shoe must be comfortable in order to feel at ease on the bike and be able to pedal powerfully. In addition, its properties must be functional in order to transfer power to the pedals. Both comfort and functionality go hand in hand.
Fizik has also taken these two important characteristics of a racing shoe into account during product development. In terms of comfort, the manufacturer has announced some key data: The Vento Omna Wide has been developed with a performance fit for riders with wider feet. This is intended to provide more space in the forefoot area, as well as on the ball of the foot and the metatarsal bone. At the same time, the shoe is well ventilated and enables comfortable temperature regulation thanks to the wider ventilation inlet. The PU upper material not only lends the racing shoe lightness, but also additional comfort. The Boa fastening system forms the bridge from comfort to functionality. The system allows the shoes to be easily adjusted to the foot - even while riding. When the shoe sits firmly and pressure-free on the foot, it is not only comfortable, but also promotes effective pedalling.
The newly designed R5 nylon outsole also combines comfort and functionality: it offers a reasonable degree of stiffness, which also leads to more efficient pedalling.
Unlike the vast majority of road cycling shoes, the cleat is located comparatively far back. This should not only promote pedalling efficiency, but also reduce compression in the knee. Overall, the shoe attempts to find the best combination of comfort and function in many aspects without having to make any major compromises.
