The new Canyon Tempr CFR shoe collection is designed to appeal to ambitious racers thanks to collaborations with established technology partners. The portfolio is aimed at road, gravel and mountain bikers. Even though these are Canyon's first ever racing shoes, the developers have set the same high standards as when developing the company's own bikes. The German direct mail order company claims to have managed to combine stiffness and comfort to launch a shoe collection that allows racers to ride to victory.
Thanks to the Percent+ technology package, the new Canyon Tempr CFR shoes are designed to eliminate power loss and maximise power transmission and comfort. BOA closure systems can now be found on numerous high-end race shoes. The so-called PerformFit Wrap, which encloses the arch and heel to reduce unwanted movement, was developed in collaboration with Canyon.
As a result, Canyon promises fewer pressure points and a better connection to the bike with more control and stability. Robust anodised and replaceable Boa Li2 aluminium twist locks should contribute to the longevity of the shoes. The new Canyon shoes are designed for all weather conditions.
The second decisive technology of the Canyon shoes comes from sole professional Solestar. Its PureFit360 foot mould and foot positioning concept has been integrated into the new shoes. Although the arch of the foot is given extra support, the foot should still be able to move naturally. The corresponding insole in combination with a full carbon sole should ensure optimum power transmission. In the cleat area, Canyon relies on a hollow construction that is supposed to be particularly rigid. The carbon sole is only six millimetres high and positions the rider's foot close to the pedal axle in favour of power transmission.
Canyon itself has developed a special stretch tongue, which encloses the foot like a sock and is designed to ensure a particularly comfortable fit. Canyon has integrated stretch zones in the typical problem areas of race shoes to reduce pressure at high wattages.
For the off-road versions, Canyon has teamed up with Vibram. Sole elements with a Megagrip rubber compound are designed to ensure that mountain bikers have a secure footing on any type of surface. Dirt adhesion is to be prevented by wide spacing, so that the self-cleaning of the shoes promises effortless clicking in even in mud.
The new Tempr CFR should offer plenty of space in the forefoot area to accommodate feet that expand at high wattages. Even on long rides, comfort in shoes should not suffer. The shoes firmly enclose the midfoot. The heel is fixed with support. This should enable particularly powerful and fluid pedalling.
Canyon offers shoe sizes from 36 to 48, from 40.5 to 46.5 even in half sizes. There are no gender specifics. Due to the direct-to-consumer concept, the shoes are only available directly from Canyon. While the road version of the Tempr CFR will only be available in black or white, the off-road shoes will also be available in grey. Regardless of the version, each model costs 329.95 euros.
