Canyon presents two new versions of its Tempr cycling shoes. The Tempr Road with carbon sole weighs 285 grams in size 42, the Tempr Off-Road with nylon sole 335 grams. Both models cost 159.95 euros and utilise the BOA Li2 closure system.

Canyon developed the two shoe models to make key performance features from the CFR programme accessible to more riders. Launched in 2024, the Tempr CFR programme uses insights from Canyon Factory Racing's collaboration and testing with professional athletes. Zoe Bäckstedt from CANYON//SRAM tested her first prototype during the week and raced it directly at the weekend. Luca Schwarzbauer from Canyon XC Racing describes the fit as immediately consistent without any break-in time.

Tempr Road with carbon sole

The Tempr Road uses an 8K carbon composite sole, which is designed to balance stiffness and weight. At 285 grams in size 42, the shoe is relatively light, but costs less than CFR-level shoes. The seamless synthetic upper and knitted tongue are designed to improve the fit over different foot shapes. Ventilation openings are specifically positioned. According to Canyon, large TPU pads on the heel and toe area improve traction and stability when walking or stopping.

Tempr Off-Road for gravel applications

The Tempr Off-Road addresses a common problem of clipless pedal beginners: limited walking ability in stiff cycling shoes. Canyon uses a fibreglass-reinforced nylon sole with a flexible forefoot area in front of the cleat mount. This construction is designed to maintain pedalling efficiency while allowing natural off-bike movement. A large rubber outsole improves traction on a variety of surfaces. An external TPU toe guard and a welded TPU mudguard would increase durability and protection for gravel and adventure riding, according to the manufacturer.

Closure system and fit

Both models utilise the BOA Li2 system with PerformFit wrap construction. The dial allows micro-adjustments in both directions and distributes pressure evenly across the foot. The knitted tongue creates a sock-like fit. Integrated heel loops make it easier to put on. The single-layer synthetic upper balances durability, breathability and weight.

Andreas Walzer, Global Director Pro Sports at Canyon, describes shoes as one of the most difficult product categories because of the different foot shapes. The Tempr models should therefore impress with their fit and at the same time ensure good power transmission.

Prices and weight

The Tempr Road weighs 285 grams and costs 159.95 euros. The Tempr Off-Road weighs 335 g and is available at the same price. The shoes are available in the colours black and white.
