TOUR colleague and test rider Dominik Scherer wore the Men's Zero Bib Tight from Velocio from November onwards, so that he could commute the 40 kilometres between his front door and his workplace in the TOUR test lab wrapped up warm and weatherproof. His conclusion after the first few weeks near the zero-degree limit: the 350 gram trousers with seat pad are not among the warmest models he knows.
He recommends them for mild winter temperatures from around five degrees. The trousers show weaknesses in terms of moisture protection; the outer material soaks up moisture quite quickly and the seat area is barely protected from splashing water, although the membrane itself is waterproof and windproof.
Our test pilot raved about the perfect wearing comfort, which is characterised by the very elasticated waistband, the well-fitting and flat straps, the knee section, which does not crease, and the precisely positioned and flat seat pad. Unfortunately, the trouser legs do not have any zips that would make them easier to put on and take off. Instead, plenty of reflective material improves visibility in road traffic. To summarise: a very comfortable pair of long cycling shorts for rather dry and mild winter days or intensive use.
