Properly fitting road bike shorts are very important for cycling. The women's shorts from SQlab are designed to make pit stops easier. How did the SQ-Short One12 Women fare in the TOUR test?

Our two testers were doubly impressed by the new SQ-Short One12 Women: when they first tried them on, they immediately liked the pleasant feel of the fabric, the cosy leg cuffs and the well-designed straps. After the first test ride, one tester praised the shorts as one of the best she had ever worn. Her initial scepticism about the seat padding, which was only five millimetres thick, disappeared with every kilometre she rode.

Both testers praised the slim padding because it adapts almost imperceptibly to every pedalling movement and is very discreetly positioned. What they both liked best was that the positioning of the straps allowed a stress-free pee break without having to take off layer after layer of clothing. You reach behind your back between the straps and pull the trousers down over your bum. The best way to do this is to combine pulling them down with squatting. The jersey can remain over the trousers.

About the SQlab SQ-Short One12 Women

With the SQ-Short One12 Women, ergonomics specialist SQlab has launched a pair of shorts for road bikes and MTB racing that is aimed 100% at women. The main difference of the women's model is the cut, which is adapted to the female body shape and the "urgent needs" during the ride. A short pit stop no longer ends in minutes of stressful changing.

Thanks to the side straps, the shorts can be easily pulled down over the buttocks without having to take off the jersey or open the straps or zips. The strap system ensures flexibility and at the same time a snug fit of the pad during the ride.

The upholstery

The SQ pad 12 is used in the SQ Short One12 Women cycling shorts. It is a maximum of 5 mm thick - or thin. Comparable to sporty saddles, which are also slim and tightly padded, the SQ-Pad 12 retains its shape, especially on longer rides. Unlike many thick, soft pads, it is not pressed inwards when pedalling.
