Single test: Mavic rain trousers
There were plenty of opportunities to test the "Hydro Tight" rain trousers from Mavic under real conditions this season. Our conclusion: so far, we have not come across a comparable product that caters so consistently to the needs of road cyclists.

Tight on the outside and suitably permeable to sweat on the inside, it saved us on several occasions - including the first 170 rainy kilometres of the Trondheim-Oslo long-distance classic. The tight cut offers the wind little surface to attack and reduces the rustling that is otherwise typical of rainwear to a bearable minimum. As the fabric (100 per cent polyester) is only slightly elasticated, creases form at the back of the knees, but this is hardly annoying. However, because the trousers don't adjust as well as normal road bike trousers, choosing the right size is crucial for a good fit. A small point of criticism: after riding in the rain, the zips on the cuffs were stiff.

Big plus: After every wash, the trousers looked like new again. PLUSwaterproof; vapour permeable; fit
