It says ‘Endurance’ on the label – and you can tell: the Scott Endurance Men’s Bib Shorts feature soft, stretchy fabric, a pad positioned well forward and a very high-cut torso for plenty of wind protection and comfort on long rides. In testing, the secure fit around the legs is impressive, whilst the tight straps may cause pressure points depending on individual sensitivity. Find out in our detailed review just how well-balanced this long-distance design ultimately is and what rating the shorts receive.

Topics in this article

With the Endurance Bib Shorts Scott is launching a classic pair of cycling shorts that are clearly designed for long-distance riding. The focus is less on aerodynamic gimmicks and more on long-lasting comfort, a secure fit and effective temperature regulation – a combination that will particularly appeal to touring cyclists.

Fit & Material

Scott praises the Endurance trousers for their slim, sporty fit. The cut is said to be ergonomically designed to support the typical cycling position without looking too sporty. An elastic synthetic fibre blend is used, which is said to ensure a secure fit and adapt well to the body. The material is also designed to stay comfortably dry even during prolonged use.

At the heart of the design is the Scott ++ Performance saddle pad, designed for medium to long distances. It has a relatively flat profile but offers targeted support in the sitting area – a good balance between comfort and direct contact with the saddle. The shorts are clearly designed for endurance rides: less bulky than high-end long-distance pads, but with sufficient cushioning for several hours in the saddle.

Features & Details

Scott takes a refreshingly pragmatic approach to the equipment package:

  • Mesh straps improve ventilation in the upper body
  • Silicone leg cuffs reliably prevent slipping
  • Breathable inserts support climate management
  • Ergonomic design for long-lasting seating comfort

In our test, the Scott trousers proved to be a comfort-focused all-rounder with clear strengths in terms of fabric and fit. They have a slightly roomier cut and stand out thanks to a pleasantly soft, stretchy fabric that makes them noticeably easier to put on. On the legs, the relatively narrow cuffs, thanks to their grip coating, ensure a secure fit without slipping.

One striking feature is the extremely high-cut torso: the top extends almost to just below the chest at the front and is also very close-fitting at the back – ensuring a snug, warm fit all round.

The padding is well suited to this: it extends well forward, provides generous coverage and offers noticeable protection from the wind. At the rear, it is slightly bulkier than on the Rose model, yet feels significantly more sturdy than its Gonso counterpart – overall, it creates a pleasant, comfortable feel in the saddle.

However, there is one criticism regarding the straps: the elastic bands dig in noticeably and leave marks on the skin – which detracts from the otherwise very good level of comfort.

All in all, the Scott trousers are an excellent choice for anyone who values soft fabric, a comfortable fit and excellent wind protection – provided they can cope with the slightly bulky straps.
