The chamois is designed to provide comfort even on long and intense rides. Otherwise, these women’s cycling shorts are kept to the bare essentials. We put them to the test to see if they really do make you faster.

Topics in this article

The Nalini Fast Lady Bib Shorts is designed for use in road cycling, gravel and XC disciplines and is aimed at female riders who prioritise comfort and efficiency in both training and competition. With its close-fitting Race Fit and aerodynamic design, it is intended to offer optimal seating comfort at high speeds and over long distances.

Minimal seams for maximum comfort

A key feature is the high-quality Randonné Lady saddle pad, which has been specially designed to suit the female anatomy. It combines shock-absorbing materials with breathable, antibacterial properties, ensuring a high level of comfort and effective moisture management.

The lower part of the trousers is made from compact, stretchy Lycra, which provides good muscle support whilst ensuring long-lasting shape retention. This is complemented by built-in UV protection (UPF 50+), meaning the trousers can be worn even in strong sunlight.

The design of the top is particularly comfortable: seamless microfibre straps ensure a comfortable fit without any pressure points or chafing. At the same time, the upper body remains largely free of fabric, which improves breathability and creates a light, airy feel.

For added comfort and a clean look, the Italian brand has opted for laser-cut leg cuffs, which feature no distracting seams and ensure a secure fit. Reflective logos also enhance visibility in low-light conditions.

The Nalini impresses right from the first touch with its pleasantly soft fabric, which hugs the body even around a slightly curvier tummy without feeling constricting. It’s particularly forgiving in this respect – even as your body changes, they remain comfortable to wear. However, anyone looking for targeted support around the tummy area is unlikely to find it here.

The thick, soft padding on the seat does a solid job, but really comes into its own on shorter to medium-length rides. The laser-cut leg cuffs are a delight to wear: nothing cuts in, nothing pinches. Despite the lack of silicone grippers, the legs stayed securely in place during the test – a pleasant surprise. The straps also performed unobtrusively and showed no weaknesses.

The trousers score highly when it comes to fabric thickness: the relatively thick fabric feels secure and proved to be pleasingly opaque in our test. All in all, the Nalini is a comfortable choice for relaxed rides – though it does fall slightly short in terms of support around the waist.
