A snug fit: the Santini Racer cycling shorts
The feel of the material makes it clear that the Racer is not like any other bib shorts. The fabric feels almost rubberised on the thighs and is also much less elastic than usual.

The manufacturing technique is also unusual: there are only seams on the inside of the thighs. This gives the trousers an almost one-piece appearance. Santini argues that they are more aerodynamic and that the firm connection between the trousers and the skin promotes blood circulation and reduces friction. You quickly get used to the tight fit of the Racer. As there is virtually no creasing, the likelihood of chafing is low, and there were no problems even over distances of more than a hundred kilometres. The elaborate seat cushion with gel insert was also impressive. Due to the tight fit, riders with strong thighs should choose a size larger than usual if in doubt. A detailed size chart on the Santini website makes it easier to choose the right size.
