The new Equipe R Bibshorts S9 are Assos' shorts for beginners. TOUR tested the shorts. How do they perform?

Visually, they hardly differ from the more expensive RS model from the Swiss brand, and only connoisseurs will see or feel the differences in the technical details: although they also weigh 190 grams in size L, the tighter, denser fabric with a noticeable compression effect and significantly higher insulation is noticeable as soon as you put them on. The braces cross from the back over the shoulders, lie flat and crease-free and hold the trousers and padding in place very well.

The only difference: at the back, the straps are only sewn once at the top of the waistband and not twice on two levels as on the RS. The seat pad with an effective width of 13 centimetres is identical except for the open air holes in the front bib; however, the leg cuffs feel tighter and stickier due to the silicone prints. The Equipe R therefore wears like a tight and warm RS, but is 50 euros cheaper at a price of 180 euros.
