Castelli can look back on a long heritage in cycling, tailoring the first cycling clothing for five-time Giro champion Alfredo Binda as early as 1910. In 2009, the revolutionary Body Paint trousers were launched on the market, which were made from a single piece of fabric and are believed to be the template for many of today's top cycling trousers.
The new Unlimited Endurance Bibs W, but it also dispenses with unnecessary seams as far as possible. The straps are completely seamless. All other seams are kept as flat as possible. Castelli uses small silicone strips at the leg ends for a slightly better grip.
Up to this point, the ladies' trousers are very similar to the Men's version, which we also tested. But the box and braces are completely different. The material is also somewhat more robust than the very light and thin men's trousers. The wide, well-fitting straps can be crossed at the front or back, which should ensure a secure and comfortable fit. The Castelli Unltd Endurance Bibs W are also designed as drop-tail trousers, which should make it easier to take a pee break.
The new Unlimited Endurance Bibs are also genuine Castelli bibs and have a correspondingly tight cut. If you don't like it too tight, you should choose a size larger. The material of the bibs is comfortable and scratch-free to wear. The leg cuffs are held in place by the silicone prints and do not slip up when pedalling. However, the silicone prints can be felt with every step, which can be a little uncomfortable in the long run. There are also three seams at the ends of the leg cuffs, which can cause some friction.
Castelli has developed its own padding, which is quite thick and comfortable overall, but is more suitable for bikers with a narrow sit bone distance. Because the padding decreases significantly towards the outside, the area with maximum support is quite narrow. This means you don't always sit optimally supported in the saddle. We would have preferred an evenly thicker shape throughout.
The pit stop function, on the other hand, is well done. Taking a pee break without removing your jersey? With the Castelli this is no problem, because thanks to the flexible straps and their special construction, the trousers can simply be pulled down at the bottom. Simple and ingenious.
Well equipped and well made, but there are better bib shorts for women in terms of comfort and seat padding.
Like the men's shorts, the Castelli women's shorts are rather small, the material is more robust but cool, the straps are comfortable and equipped with a good pee function, which makes the pit stop much easier. The silicone on the leg cuffs and the seams on the thighs can pinch a little. The padding is rather narrow and could offer more support.
