Lycra overshoes
The thin lycra seems delicate - but if you have experience putting on overshoes, you'll be fine.

Hardly a pair without holes! After just one day of practical testing at the training camp in Cambrils, many overshoes came back badly damaged. Some of the thin Lycra skins were badly damaged in the toe, foot and heel areas. A sign of poor quality?

Not necessarily. It was perfectly possible to return the overshoes completely intact. This showed who already has experience in slipping them on. To prevent them from breaking when you put them on, the overshoes have to be pulled apart and then carefully slipped over the shoe. However, they often get caught on the pedal plates and the ratchet or Velcro fasteners of the shoes. With careful handling, however, all tested models fulfil their purpose.

The models from Castelli and North wave are specially reinforced in the most sensitive areas. Sportful, on the other hand, does without a zip. The simple but functional model can therefore be packed up and stowed away particularly small.

A zip generally makes it easier to put on and take off, but it should be covered to prevent chafing on the ankle. Important: Fold down the zip, otherwise the zip will open by itself!

The thin Lycra booties fulfil their purpose, especially in windy and cool temperatures. The protection against moisture is only slight, but the breathability is hardly affected.
