To coincide with the route presentation for the 2027 Tour de France, Castelli has unveiled the new classification jerseys for the Tour de France and the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift for the first time. For the long-established Italian brand, this return to the Grande Boucle is a special moment: Castelli previously produced the coveted leader’s jerseys between 1989 and 1994, which were worn by riders including Greg LeMond and Miguel Indurain. Now the brand is returning as the official kit supplier for all cycling races organised by A.S.O., and the new jerseys combine tradition, technical innovations and numerous hidden details.

All four jerseys share several design elements that pay homage to the history of the Tour de France. These include specially designed hexagonal zip pullers as a tribute to France’s nickname ‘L’Hexagone’, individually coloured zips to match the respective classification colours, and gripper bands at the hem of the jersey, into which the profiles of Tour stages have been incorporated. Hundreds of small hexagonal elements are also intended to add further depth of detail.

The legendary Maillot Jaune will once again take centre stage in the 2027 collection. Castelli has added several exclusive details to the jersey, reserved solely for the overall leader. Particularly striking is a special zip: only when opened does the French tricolour become visible, stretching the full length of the placket.

In addition, special colour pigments have been incorporated directly into the fabric to make the yellow hue appear even more intense. According to Castelli, this is intended to make the jersey stand out even more, particularly against the backdrop of France’s famous sunflower fields.

Another detail can be found on the fabric itself: the signature of Tour co-founder Henri Desgrange has been incorporated into the design as a mark of quality. Technically, the jersey is based on Castelli’s current Aero Race model, which is designed for maximum aerodynamics and competitive performance.

The Green Jersey: the sprint classification with its distinctive look

The Maillot Vert, worn by the leader of the points classification, is based on the same basic aerodynamic design as the Yellow Jersey, but features the traditional rich green colour of the sprint classification. Here, too, a specially coloured zip is used, which echoes the colour of the classification.

In addition, all the signature Tour details are present: the hexagonal zip pullers, the stage profiles on the elastic grippers, and the intricate hexagon patterns. Castelli’s aim is to ensure that not only the general classification but every single special classification is held to the same high technical standards.

The King of the Mountains jersey: the Castelli Scorpion is incorporated into the design

The designers have incorporated one of their most striking details into the famous white and red mountains jersey. The traditional Castelli scorpion logo has been seamlessly integrated into the polka-dot pattern. The red circle of the logo blends directly into the jersey’s distinctive polka dots.

That said, the classic look of the Maillot à Pois remains largely unchanged. The mountains jersey also features the new hexagon details, a colour-coordinated zip and the special grippers with integrated route profiles. In this way, Castelli combines the jersey’s traditional look with modern design elements.

The White Jersey: A new colour accent for the young riders’ classification

The biggest visual change is to the White Jersey awarded to the best young rider. For the first time, the Maillot Blanc features ultraviolet accents on the collar, the cuffs and the bottom hem.

The colour scheme is inspired by the branding of the new jersey partner, Sanofi, and gives the junior jersey – which is traditionally very understated – a distinctly more modern look. At the same time, the basic concept of the classification remains the same: a predominantly white jersey that identifies the best young rider in the race.

Like the other classification jerseys, the junior jersey is also based on Castelli’s Aero Race platform and combines performance-oriented fabrics with an aerodynamic cut for use at the highest competitive level.

Castelli celebrates its return to the Tour

With the new classification jerseys, Castelli is underlining its commitment to combining tradition with modern performance. In addition to the classification jerseys, the brand has already unveiled its own ‘Maillot Jaune Collection’. Beyond the Tour, this collection also serves as the official kit for other races organised by A.S.O. For Castelli, the return to the Tour de France marks not only a new partnership, but also the renewal of a connection to one of the most successful eras in the company’s history.
