Aerodynamics has long since become a decisive criterion in cycling. Rapha has also been focussing on cycling clothing with low air resistance for some time now. For the new Pro Team Spring/Summer 2024 collection, the focus was on performance in the wind tunnel. "The focus is on aerodynamic, lightweight designs," is how the manufacturer describes the Pro Team clothing collection.
Rapha has made changes to its cycling clothing for the 2024 season, based on wind tunnel data and feedback from Team EF Pro Cycling, among other things. The sleeves and shoulders have been revised and the proprietary Italian Clima fabric has been introduced, which combines elasticity and compression.
At the top of the collection - also in terms of price - is the new Pro Team Aero Jersey. According to the press release, it is the fastest Rapha jersey ever developed. The flat neckline is designed to prevent irritation in the neck area and the "Pro Team" branding has been revised. A longer zip underlay protects the shorts from chafing. The Pro Team Aero Jersey was already worn by Alison Jackson, rider for EF Education-Cannondale, during her victory at Paris-Roubaix Femmes 2023.
Data from the wind tunnel (according to the manufacturer)
Average saving of 7.8 watts at all tested speeds (32, 46 and 58 km/h). 4.0 watts saved compared to the previous version at 46 km/h
