A hot water bottle or a hot bath can help with muscle tension caused by draughts or cold. The modern, practical alternative is a heat plaster, such as the back warmer from Thermopad.
It allows the heat to be placed exactly where the pain is located; the manufacturer promises heat for twelve hours. After opening the plaster, a granulate of iron powder, salt, activated charcoal, water and silicate reacts with oxygen. As the plaster can become very hot, it must not be applied directly to the skin. Coated with a textile adhesive surface, it adheres well to tight-fitting clothing.
