The jacket is made from several technical materials that fulfil different functions. A three-layer material is used on the front which, according to the manufacturer, is windproof and water-repellent. This so-called Thermo Windproof material has a central membrane designed to protect against the cold and wind, while the inner layer consists of a fluffy fabric designed to retain heat. For the back and sleeves, Gobik uses a material called Thermo Roubaix, which is designed to offer greater breathability to prevent overheating. The collar is cut high and lined with a soft fleece material to protect the neck area from the cold and minimise chafing.
The Unity Advanced Cold 26 has three classic rear pockets that offer sufficient storage space for food, spare clothing and other equipment. There is also an integrated waterproof zip pocket in which sensitive items such as smartphones or keys can be safely stowed. The main zip is fitted with a chin guard to prevent skin irritation. The back of the jacket has an extended design to ensure that the lower back is sufficiently covered and protected from splashing water, even when in the riding position. The cuffs are elasticated to ensure a close fit and prevent cold spots. For better visibility in low light conditions, Gobik has attached reflective elements at strategic points on the jacket. These are located on the sleeves, on the back and on the sides to increase visibility from different angles. The jacket has a close-fitting cut which, according to the manufacturer, is designed to minimise air turbulence and thus improve aerodynamics.
According to Gobik, the Unity Advanced Cold 26 is designed to be suitable for different training intensities. For moderate efforts, the jacket is designed to provide sufficient thermal protection as an outer layer, while it can be combined with appropriate base layers for more intensive sessions. The material composition consists of 85 per cent polyester and 15 per cent elastane, which should provide a good balance between thermal insulation and freedom of movement. The jacket is available in six different colours: black, dark blue, dark green, bordeaux, grey and a limited special edition. Sizes range from XS to XXL, with Gobik providing a size chart to help you make the right choice. Weighing in at 380 grams (size M), the jacket is one of the lighter winter options on the market, which can be particularly beneficial on longer rides as less extra weight needs to be carried.
To care for the Unity Advanced Cold 26, Gobik recommends machine washing at 30 degrees Celsius with a mild detergent. Fabric softener should not be used as this could impair the technical properties of the materials. After washing, the jacket should be left to air dry, avoiding direct sunlight. A tumble dryer should not be used in order to preserve the life of the membrane and the elastic properties. Gobik relies on sustainable processes in the production of the jacket. The company states that the materials are certified in accordance with the Bluesign standard, which places strict environmental, health and safety requirements on textile production. The jacket's packaging is also made from recycled cardboard. The jacket is designed and produced in Spain, which according to the manufacturer means shorter transport routes and therefore a lower CO2 footprint. With a price of 195 euros, the Unity Advanced Cold 26 is positioned in the upper price segment for winter cycling clothing.
