It is made from the new Gore-Tex Active laminate, which the manufacturer first used for rain jackets in 2016 - it is said to be particularly lightweight, breathable, waterproof, quick-drying and foldable. We had the jacket in constant use for a season - at twelve degrees and rain, at temperatures at the snow line and even in the tropical rainforest at 30 degrees and 85 per cent humidity. ConclusionThe jacket delivers what the manufacturer promises.
In terms of weight (97 grams in size M), pack size, drying time and breathability, we have yet to find a better rain jacket. The waterproofness has not suffered after repeated washing, even after several hours of continuous rain the upper body remained dry. Which is also true: You shake the jacket out afterwards and it's dry after a few minutes. And it worked so well that it was often used as a windbreaker and outside of cycling.
However, there are some minor points of criticism: the Shakedry jacket was previously only available in matt black - but this is set to change in 2018. This is a real shortcoming when it comes to rain jackets. This makes it all the more incomprehensible that there are hardly any reflective strips on it. And although the close-fitting cut is great for road cycling, the material is hardly elasticated, meaning that the jacket can ride up at the back when worn over full jersey pockets.
The jacket is available in six Sizes from XS to XXL; if you usually wear a size S, it's better to take a size M.
PLUS breathable, lightweight, quick-drying
