From September 2014, this new service for racing cyclists will be available in selected specialist shops, such as Sport Schuster or Ertl-Renz in Munich. These shops already have a scanner and years of experience in customising ski boots. The scan is followed by a detailed consultation with trained specialist staff to analyse the scan data. The boot manufacturer then uses this data to produce a customised last as a template for boot production.
The technical highlight of the handcrafted shoes is the completely new closure construction with a rotating wheel, with which two crosswise overlapping canvas tongues securely position the foot in the shoe. Brand man Johannes Steuerwald promises that this allows for a gentler distribution of pressure on the sensitive instep. The shoe has a correspondingly high price due to the high level of effort involved and the fact that it is made by hand. This amounts to 699 euros for the first pair and 499 euros for the second pair, as the brand's own last is already available.
