Pas Normal Studios x Porter: Bags for both road cycling and everyday use

Designed with cyclists in mind

The collaboration between Pas Normal Studios and Porter is aimed at cyclists who don’t judge kit solely on how it fits on their bike. As well as three specially designed bikepacking bags, the collection includes a rucksack, a tote bag and a coin purse. It thus expands the range of classic road bike accessories to include items for everyday use, commuting and travel.

Pas Normal Studios emphasises that cyclists’ perspectives shaped the design process. Functionality and proportions are particularly crucial when it comes to a frame bag: it must not unnecessarily obstruct access to water bottles, should make sensible use of the space within the frame triangle, and must sit securely even on long rides. The manufacturer has not yet provided any specific details regarding volume, weight or mounting systems.

A closer look at frame, handlebar and saddle bags

The three cycle bags form the functional core of the collection. A frame bag is ideal for tools, food or an extra layer of clothing. Handlebar bags provide easily accessible storage space for a smartphone, a windbreaker or snacks. The saddle bag, on the other hand, is the compact solution for a repair kit and a spare inner tube.

For road cyclists, these bags are particularly useful when planning longer training rides, brevets or weekend tours. In everyday use, they can also be an alternative to overloaded jersey pockets. The key factors here are how securely the bags are attached to the bike and whether they get in the way when standing on the pedals or turning the handlebars. There are as yet no independent practical reviews available on this.

Japanese manufacturing and robust materials

According to the manufacturer, the bags are made from Oxford-weave nylon and ripstop nylon. The Oxford weave is said to provide structure, whilst ripstop nylon enhances durability. Sturdy Vislon zips are fitted for ease of use. All products are manufactured in Japan.

The combination of materials reflects the collection’s ethos: the bags are not intended to be seen merely as accessories for a single ride, but to be usable away from the road bike as well. The rucksack and tote bag are therefore aimed at cyclists who want to carry their kit on their commute, whilst travelling or during a stop at a café.

On sale from October

The Pas Normal Studios x Porter collection will be available from 2 October 2026. It will be sold via Pas Normal Studios, the Yoshida & Co. online store, selected flagship stores, Porter stores and retail partners. At the time of the announcement, the manufacturer had not yet disclosed the prices in euros.
