- Waterproof construction with welded seams, side mesh pockets and a cable outlet for charging devices whilst riding.
- Focus on functionality, storage space and weather protection rather than minimal weight; tapered shape and flat zip for knee clearance.

Apidura Expedition Long Top Tube Pack: Two litres right at your fingertips

- Xcase 3-in-1 bags combine a pannier, rucksack and shoulder bag, and include a removable, padded laptop sleeve.
- Two versions: 25 litres made from PVC (€36.99, heavier, cheaper) and 20 litres made from TPU (lighter, more durable, more environmentally friendly, more expensive).
- Sturdy click-and-Velcro fastening system, waterproof material without IP certification, limited padding and reflective panels, clear price advantage.

Affordable commuting: Xcase 3-in-1 cycle bag – pannier and rucksack in one

- The 14 gravel components featured are designed to offer greater comfort, efficiency, storage space and puncture resistance on gravel rides.
- The focus is on contact points, transport solutions, hydration systems, drivetrain maintenance, tyres and a mini electric pump.
- The products address typical gravel cycling needs such as seating comfort, sun protection, range, tyre durability and well-organised luggage.

14 bits and pieces for your gravel adventure: clever bits for gravel cyclists and others

- The Fidlock Hermetic Hydration Bladder features a magnetic closure system with three rows of magnets and a snap lock for a tight seal.
- The large opening makes filling and cleaning easier; the system is designed primarily for ease of use and a reliable seal when out on the trail.
- Available as a rucksack version (1.5/2.5 l) and a hip bag version, made from BPA-free, flavourless TPU, priced at €59.99.

Fidlock Hermetic: A hydration bladder that’s easy to use – thanks to its magnetic closure

- Lightweight, water-repellent rucksack (approx. 17 l instead of 20 l) made from stretchy material; however, the outer compartment is not waterproof.
- Simple organisation: storage space with little structure, well-padded laptop compartment, few internal pockets.
- Comfort and ventilation are average; the back system and build quality are disappointing; not recommended for frequent commuters at this price.

Heimplanet Motion Arc 20: Commuting Pack from the Hamburg-based brand in our commuter rucksack test

- Cycling kit such as sunglasses, a sports watch, a rucksack, a hydration vest and a multifunctional scarf is suitable for a variety of outdoor sports.
- Additional items such as arm warmers, wind vests, socks, headlamps and base layers enhance comfort, safety and protection from the elements in many disciplines.
- Versatile products offer better value for money, save storage space and can be used flexibly for a range of activities.

Cycling gear with added value: these products can also be used in other sports

- Restrap Lightweight Race Hydration Vest: 215 g light, 4 litre storage space, 2 litre hydration bladder, mesh stretch construction, price 179.99 euros.

- Race Top Tube: 0.6 litre top tube bag made from recycled ripstop, U-stiffening, fast straps or 64 mm direct mounting, price 74.99 euros.

Restrap Lightweight Hydration Vest: hydration waistcoat with pockets - the new gravel race essential?

- Urban commuter backpack with strong pocket management, real approx. 15 litre volume, 1527 g weight and robust, waterproof material.
- Integrated, bright, detachable rear light increases safety; few reflectors, overall good marks for handling, safety and weather protection.
- Carrying system only mediocre: soft side padding, tight centre padding, no chest and waist straps; high price of 229 euros, overall rating 2.4.

Commuter backpack in the test: Expensive but test victory for the Deuter Amager 25+5

- Proof 22 is a waterproof, sustainably produced roll-top backpack (approx. 20 litres usable) "Made in Germany" for bike commuters.
- Few pockets: only one small compartment on the outside, laptop compartment up to 13.3" on the inside, two mesh pockets and a zip pocket, no side nets.
- Carrying comfort functional with good back system, but without hip fins; safety drawback: only small reflective logos, high price (approx. 180 €).

Backpack for commuting by bike: Vaude Proof 22 commuter backpack

- In practice, the Metron 24 offers approx. 17 instead of 24 litres of volume, but is sufficient for commuting and has many, sometimes unusual, compartments.
- Construction with rain cape, good organisation, missing bottle holders and solid but improvable back ventilation.
- More of an MTB backpack than a commuter, high price level, removable straps, limited reflectors; tested over at least 60 km.
