Trek Dual Sport 1 Gen 4

The "Dual Sport 1 Gen 4" model from Trek, released in 2022, is a versatile and robust bike designed for a variety of uses. Priced at 624 EUR, it offers excellent value for money. The frame is made from Alpha Gold aluminium and is DuoTrap S-compatible, allowing for internal cable routing as well as eyelets for a luggage rack and mudguards. The frame also features a post-mount disc brake mount, a kickstand mount and a 135 x 5 mm quick-release axle. The maximum load capacity is 136 kg, whilst the bike itself weighs 13 kg.

The Dual Sport 1 Gen 4 is fitted with Tektro MD-M280 mechanical disc brakes, which have a disc diameter of 160 mm at both the front and rear. Gear shifting is controlled via Shimano EF500 shifters with an 8-speed drivetrain. The front derailleur is a Shimano Tourney TY710 with a clamp diameter of 34.9 mm and a dual-pull mechanism.

The fork is an SR Suntour NEX with a coil spring and adjustable spring preload. It offers 63 mm of travel and is fitted with a 100 x 5 mm quick-release axle. The pedals are Wellgo nylon platform pedals. The crankset is made from forged aluminium and features chainrings with 46 and 30 teeth, as well as a chain guard. The grips are Bontrager Satellite, whilst the stem is made of aluminium and has a clamp diameter of 25.4 mm, an angle of 10 degrees and a length of 90 mm. The headset is a threadless, sealed compact-bearing headset with a diameter of 1 1/8".

The tyres are Bontrager GR1 Comp in size 700 x 40, fitted to Bontrager Connection aluminium hollow-section rims with 32 holes and Schrader valves. The hubs are also made of aluminium by Formula, with a DC-20 hub at the front and a DC-22 hub at the rear, both featuring a 6-hole disc mount and quick-release axles.

The saddle is a Bontrager Sport model, fitted to a Bontrager aluminium seatpost with a diameter of 27.2 mm, a 12 mm offset and a length of 330 mm.

The packaging dimensions are 20 mm wide, 77 mm high and 142 mm long. Further geometric details include a reach of 42 mm, a stack of 61 mm, a seat tube length of 44 mm and a top tube length of 59 mm. The head tube angle is 71 degrees, and the seat tube angle is 74 degrees. The head tube length is 12 mm, the chainstay length is 46 mm, the standover height is 76 mm and the wheelbase is 110 mm.
