Trek Domane AL 2 Gen 3

The 2023 "Domane AL 2 Gen 3" model from Trek is a versatile road bike, available for €1,149. The frame is made from 100 Series Alpha Aluminium and features a tapered head tube, internal cable routing, mudguard mounts and is DuoTrap S-compatible. The flat-mount disc brake mount, together with the 142 x 12 mm axle mount, ensures stable and precise braking performance. The bike’s maximum load capacity is 125 kg, whilst it weighs 10 kg.

The brakes fitted are Tektro C550 mechanical 2-piston disc brakes at the front and rear, each with a disc diameter of 160 mm. The shift levers are from the Shimano Claris series (ST-R2000), for both the right (8-speed) and left sides. The front derailleur is also a Shimano Claris R2000, mounted on a 31.8 mm clamp diameter.

The bike’s fork is made from Domane AL Carbon with a tapered aluminium steerer tube, internal brake routing and mudguard eyelets. It is also fitted with a flat-mount disc brake mount and a 12x100 mm thru-axle. The crankset is a Shimano RS200 with a compact 50/34-tooth setup and a crank arm length of 175 mm. The Shimano UN300 threaded cartridge bottom bracket has a centre distance of 110 mm.

The cassette consists of a Shimano HG31 (CS-HG31) with a 11–32-tooth range and 8 speeds. The drivetrain is completed by a Shimano Sora HG71 chain. The handlebars are Bontrager Comp VR-C aluminium handlebars with a width of 44 cm, a reach of 100 mm and a drop of 124 mm. The stem is a Bontrager Elite with a clamp diameter of 31.8 mm, Blendr compatibility, a 7-degree angle and a length of 100 mm.

The headset is an integrated FSA headset with sealed cartridge bearings, 1 1/8" at the top and 1.5" at the bottom. The wheelset consists of Bontrager Paradigm wheels, which are tubeless-ready and have an internal width of 21 mm and 24 spoke holes. The saddle is a Bontrager Verse Comp with steel rails and a width of 145 mm. The seatpost is a Bontrager Comp made from 6061 aluminium, with a diameter of 27.2 mm, an offset of 8 mm and a length of 330 mm.

The bike’s packaging dimensions are 24 mm wide, 78 mm high and 133 mm long. The frame geometry features a reach of 38 mm, a stack of 61 mm, a seat tube length of 55 mm and a top tube length of 57 mm. The head tube angle is 72 degrees, the seat tube angle is 73 degrees, the head tube length is 20 mm, the chainstay length is 42 mm, the standover height is 80 mm and the wheelbase measures 102 mm in total.
