Trek 520

The Trek 520 model from 2023 is a high-quality touring bike that is characterised by its robustness and versatility. The frame is made of end-reinforced CrMo steel and is equipped with luggage rack and mudguard eyelets. The quick-release axles at the front and rear measure 100 x 5 mm and 135 x 5 mm respectively. The permissible total weight is 125 kg, while the bike itself weighs 14 kg.

The braking system consists of TRP Spyre C 2.0 mechanical disc brakes with a disc diameter of 160 mm at both the front and rear. The gears are controlled by Shimano Sora shifters, which offer 3-speed shifting at the front and 9-speed at the rear. The front derailleur is a Shimano Sora R3030 with a clamping diameter of 34.9 mm, including an adapter for 28.6 mm.

The fork is made of aluminium and also has luggage rack eyelets. The pedals are from Wellgo and combine a nylon body with an aluminium cage. The crankset comes from Shimano Alivio T4060 and offers a gear ratio of 48/36/26, complemented by a chain guard and a crank arm length of 175 mm. The crankset is a Shimano HG200 with a gradation of 11-36 and the drive is provided by a KMC X9 chain.

The handlebar is a Bontrager Comp VR-C made of aluminium with a diameter of 31.8 mm, a reach of 100 mm, a drop of 124 mm and a width of 44 cm. The grips are made of handlebar tape from Bontrager. The stem is a Bontrager Elite with a clamping diameter of 31.8 mm, Blendr-compatible, an angle of 7 degrees and a length of 110 mm. The headset is threadless and has sealed compact bearings.

The tyres are Bontrager H1 Hard-Case Ultimate in size 700 x 38C with reflective sidewalls. The wheelset consists of Bontrager Affinity Disc rims, which are tubeless ready, with an inner width of 21 mm and a Presta valve. The hubs are Shimano M475 with a 6-hole disc mount.

The saddle is a Bontrager Evoke model, mounted on an aluminium seat post with a diameter of 27.2 mm, an offset of 12 mm and a length of 330 mm. The bike is equipped with several racks: a 520 Touring front rack and two Bontrager BackRack Deluxe racks, which are Interchange-compatible and have a maximum load capacity of 25 kg each.

The geometric data includes a seat tube length of 60 mm, a top tube length of 60 mm, a head tube angle of 72 degrees, a seat tube angle of 73 degrees, a head tube length of 23 mm, a chainstay length of 45 mm, a standover height of 85 mm and a wheelbase of 109 mm. The bike has a reach of 40 mm and a stack of 66 mm.
