Lapierre Prorace 20

The 2023 Lapierre Prorace 20 is a bike model which, at a price of 459 EUR, offers young riders an attractive introduction to the world of mountain biking. The frame is made from a Prorace 20" Supreme 4 alloy and is specifically designed for V-brakes, which helps to reduce weight and brings the bike’s total weight down to just 10 kg.

Fitted with Alhonga HJ-721 ADX V-brakes, the bike delivers reliable braking performance. Gear changes are handled by a Shimano RD-TY300D, combined with a Shimano SL-M315-7R shifter to make efficient use of the 7 available gears. The fork, an RST CAPA with a 20" travel of 40 mm, ensures comfort on uneven terrain.

The Prorace 20 is fitted with SP-876 pedals and an Alloy A102P crankset, which features a 32T chainring and a crank arm length of 127 mm. The cassette consists of a Shimano TZ5007428 with a 14–28T range across 7 gears. Power is transmitted via a YBN S50 chain, which is designed to meet the demands of a 7-speed system.

The handlebars are Lapierre MtB Alloy 6061, with a width of 580 mm, a backsweep of 9° and a diameter of 31.8 mm. The grips are Velo VLG311-4A, which ensure a comfortable ride. The stem is an MTB Alloy AS-M05 with a 0° angle and a length of 45 mm. The headset is of the Ahead type and made of steel.

The hubs are KT A15F at the front and KT A12R threaded at the rear, ensuring a solid foundation and durability. The saddle, a Lapierre VL-5061, is mounted on an Alloy SP-200 seatpost, which has a diameter of 27.2 mm and a length of 300 mm. Overall, the Lapierre Prorace 20 offers a well-thought-out specification that is suitable for young mountain bike beginners and provides a good balance between performance and price.
