HNF Nicolai XD3 Speed

The “XD3 Speed” model from HNF Nicolai, launched in 2024, is a high-performance e-bike designed for both urban use and longer rides. Priced at 4,990 EUR, it offers a wide range of high-quality components and features. The frame is made of robust aluminium and supports a maximum load of up to 150 kg, whilst the bike itself weighs 30 kg.

The XD3 Speed’s braking system comprises Magura brakes, with a VR MT5 203mm at the front and an HR MT4 180mm at the rear, ensuring reliable braking performance. Gear changes are handled by the Enviolo CVP TR system, which is operated via an Enviolo CT twist grip and offers an impressive 99 gears. Suspension is provided by a RockShox Recon Silver 29" fork with 120mm of travel; alternatively, an EXT 34 air fork, also with 120mm of travel, can be selected.

Lighting is provided by the powerful Supernova M99 Mini Pro-45 front light and the Supernova R-Light M99 rear light. The pedals are either VP Components VPE-527 or Marwi SP-120, depending on your choice. The drivetrain consists of a Gates CDX system, comprising a 55T crankset with bashguard, a 22T sprocket and a 122T drive.

The XD3 Speed’s handlebars are Ergotec Low Riser Bars, complemented by Ergon GP10 grips or, alternatively, Herrmans Line DD36 grips. The stem is an adjustable Ergotec Swell RE with a length of 100mm. The wheels are Vuelta Disc Runner 27.5, measuring 21x584, and are fitted with Schwalbe Super Moto-X tyres, which feature GreenGuard technology for additional puncture protection.

The saddle is a Selle Royal Essenza Athletic model, mounted on a Satori Trident or Ergotec Atar seatpost with a diameter of 31.6 mm. Mudguards made from HNF aluminium multi-cavity extrusion provide protection against splash water. A Pletscher Optima Flex kickstand ensures the bike stands securely, whilst an Abus Bordo 6000/90 Powertube IT2.1 XPlus lock provides security. The luggage rack is a Racktime for HNF model with a load capacity of up to 25 kg and Snap-It 2.0 functionality.

The drive is powered by a Bosch Gen4 Performance Line Speed motor, fed by a Bosch PowerTube battery with a capacity of 625 Wh. The display is a Bosch Intuvia, which clearly shows all relevant riding information. With a reach of 400 mm, a stack of 623 mm and a seat tube length of 435 mm, the XD3 Speed offers a comfortable and ergonomic riding position for the rider.
