HNF Nicolai UD4 Eco Touring

The “UD4 Eco Touring” model from HNF Nicolai, launched in 2024, is a versatile and robust e-bike available for 4,690 EUR. The frame is made of aluminium, giving the bike a sturdy yet lightweight structure, and it has a maximum load capacity of 150 kg with a kerb weight of 30 kg.

The bike’s braking system comprises Magura brakes, with an MT5 system at the front and an MT4 at the rear, both fitted with 180 mm discs, ensuring reliable braking performance. The gear system is a Sunrace RDMS100 MD with 10 speeds, controlled by the Sunrace DLES33 RT shifter, which allows for precise and easy gear selection.

Riding comfort is ensured by the LENS Taigar 1 fork, which is 29 inches in length and has a travel of 100 mm. The lighting system comprises the Supernova Mini 2 front light and the Supernova E3 Tail Light 2 rear light, which ensure good visibility in traffic. The pedals are VP Components, model VPE-527, and the bottom bracket is a Miranda Delta with a length of 170 mm.

Power is provided by the Bosch Smart System Performance Line CX motor, which is paired with a Bosch PowerTube battery with a capacity of 625 Wh. The Bosch Kiox display provides the rider with all the necessary information on battery status and ride performance.

The setup is complemented by a Miranda crankset with a 44T chainring and bashguard, whilst the cassette is a Sunrace CSMS2 TAZ E 10x in black. The handlebars are Zoom NR-AL-196BT, 620 mm wide with an 18° angle, fitted with WTB Waffle grips that offer a comfortable grip. The stem is a Zoom TDS-D601, 60 mm long.

The rims are WTB ST i30 TCS 2.0 disc, sized 30x584, fitted with Kenda El Capo tyres in size 60-584 in black. The hubs are a KT MS6F 15x110 Boost Disc at the front and a KT 259R_DSE-QR 135x10 Disc at the rear.

The saddle is a Selle Royal Vivo Unitech, mounted on a Zoom SP-D329 seatpost with a diameter of 31.6 mm. Mudguards made from HNF aluminium multi-cavity extrusion protect against splashes and dirt. The Pletscher Optima Flex kickstand ensures the bike stands securely, whilst the Racktime luggage rack for HNF, with a load capacity of 25 kg and the Snap-It 2.0 system, offers ample space for luggage.

Overall, the “UD4 Eco Touring” offers a well-thought-out specification for extended tours and everyday use, supported by high-quality components and a powerful drivetrain.
