GIANT Trance X 2

GIANT’s 2023 “Trance X 2” model is a versatile mountain bike designed for challenging trails and descents. It is available at a price of 3299 EUR. The frame is made from lightweight and robust AluxX SL material and features the tried-and-tested Maestro rear triangle, which allows for flip-chip adjustments thanks to its geometry. A carbon rocker arm completes the setup and offers 135 mm of travel. The frame accommodates tyres up to 2.5 inches wide and a maximum chainring size of 34T.

Braking performance is provided by Tektro Orion HD-M745 brakes with four pistons and 203 mm and 180 mm rotors respectively. The brake levers are also Tektro Orion HD-M745. The rear derailleur and shift levers are from the SRAM SX Eagle series and offer 12-speed gearing. The RockShox 35 Gold RL fork, with 150 mm of travel and a Boost 15x110 mm axle, offers excellent damping, whilst the specially tuned FOX Float DPS Performance shock ensures additional comfort and control.

The bike is supplied without pedals, allowing the rider to choose according to their own preferences. The bottom bracket is a SRAM DUB Pressfit, combined with a SRAM SX Eagle crankset featuring a 30T chainring and a 52 mm chainline. The cassette is also from SRAM SX Eagle and offers a 11–50T range.

The handlebars are GIANT Contact TR35 with a 20 mm rise and a width of 780 mm, whilst the grips are GIANT Tactal Pro Single Lock-On. The stem, a GIANT Contact SL 35, has a length of 40 mm. The rims are GIANT AM 29, tubeless-ready with an internal width of 30 mm, and are fitted with Maxxis Minion DHF 29x2.5WT at the front and Maxxis Dissector 29x2.4WT at the rear, both in the EXO TR version. The bike is supplied tubeless as standard and includes a tubeless kit containing fluid, valves, tyre levers, a valve core remover and instructions.

The hubs are RD02F at the front and ED260-R at the rear, fitted with Sapim spokes. The saddle is a GIANT Romero, mounted on a GIANT Contact Switch Vario seatpost with different travel lengths depending on frame size (S: 125 mm, M: 150 mm, L: 170 mm, XL: 200 mm).

The frame’s geometry offers a balanced combination of stability and manoeuvrability. The reach is 426 mm and the stack is 617 mm. The seat tube length is 430 mm, and the top tube length is 566 mm. The head tube angle is 66 degrees, and the seat tube angle is 77 degrees. Other dimensions include a head tube length of 95 mm, a chainstay length of 438 mm, a bottom bracket drop of 40 mm and a fork offset of 44 mm. The top tube height is 734 mm, the crank length is 165 mm and the wheelbase is 1173 mm.
