GIANT Trance X 1

The 2023 "Trance X 1" model from GIANT is a versatile mountain bike that stands out for its advanced technology and high-quality components. Priced at 3999 EUR, it offers excellent value for money for discerning riders.

The Trance X 1’s frame consists of an AluxX SL frame with a Maestro rear triangle and a carbon rocker arm, which ensures optimum suspension performance. The frame offers 135 mm of travel and is fitted with a geometry flip-chip, allowing the geometry to be adjusted. The SRAM UDH derailleur hanger ensures reliable shifting performance. The frame is designed to accommodate tyres up to 2.5 inches wide and a maximum chainring size of 34T.

Braking performance is provided by Shimano BR-MT520 (4-piston) brakes with 203 mm front and 180 mm rear rotors, controlled by Shimano BL-MT501 brake levers. Gear changes are handled by the Shimano SLX M7100 Shadow+ system with 12 speeds, operated via Shimano SLX M7100 shifters.

Front suspension is provided by a FOX 36 Float Performance fork with GRIP damping and 150 mm of travel, as well as a Boost 15x110 mm axle. The rear shock is a FOX Float DPS Performance, which has been specially tuned and is fitted with a 185x55 mm trunnion mount.

The bike is supplied without pedals, but features a Shimano Pressfit bottom bracket and a Shimano M511 crankset with a 30T chainring and a 52 mm chainline. The cassette is a Shimano SLX M7100 with a 10–51T range, whilst the drivetrain is powered by a KMC X-12 chain.

The handlebars are GIANT Contact TR35 with a 20 mm rise and a width of 780 mm, combined with GIANT Tactal Pro Single Lock-On grips and a GIANT Contact SL 35 stem with a length of 50 mm. The rims are GIANT AM 29, tubeless-ready, with an internal width of 30 mm, fitted with Maxxis Minion DHF 29x2.5WT tyres at the front and Maxxis Dissector 29x2.4WT tyres at the rear, both in the EXO and TR versions. The bike is supplied tubeless-ready.

The hubs are RD02F / ED260-R, and the spokes are by Sapim. The saddle is a GIANT Romero model, mounted on a GIANT Contact Switch Vario seatpost with a diameter of 30.9 mm, the drop of which varies depending on frame size (S: 125 mm, M: 150 mm, L: 170 mm, XL: 200 mm).

The bike also comes with a tubeless kit containing sealant, valves, tyre levers, a valve core remover and instructions.

The geometry of the Trance X 1 comprises a reach of 510 mm, a stack of 640 mm, a seat tube length of 496 mm and a top tube length of 656 mm. The head tube angle is 66 degrees, and the seat tube angle is 77 degrees. The head tube length is 120 mm, the chainstay length 438 mm, the bottom bracket drop is 40 mm, the fork offset is 44 mm and the standover height is 777 mm. The crank length is 170 mm and the wheelbase measures 1268 mm in total.

The Trance X 1 from GIANT is therefore a technically sophisticated and well-equipped mountain bike, designed for challenging trails and a wide range of uses.
