GIANT Reign SX

The 2023 “Reign SX” model from GIANT is a highly advanced mountain bike designed for challenging trails and downhill riding. Priced at 4699 EUR, it offers a wide range of high-quality components and technical features.

The Reign SX’s frame is made from lightweight and robust AluxX SL material and features a Maestro rear triangle with flip-chip geometry. It also features a carbon derailleur hanger and an integrated frame storage compartment. The frame offers 165 mm of travel and is designed for a maximum tyre clearance of 2.5". The SRAM UDH derailleur hanger and the maximum chainring size of 36T round off the frame design.

The braking system consists of SRAM Code R (4-piston) brakes with 220 mm discs at the front and 200 mm discs at the rear, which deliver excellent braking performance. Gear changes are handled by a Shimano Deore M512 Shadow+ system with 10 speeds and Shimano Deore M4100 shift levers.

The bike’s suspension is provided by a FOX 40 Performance double-crown fork with GRIP damping and 190 mm of travel, as well as a FOX DHX2 Performance Elite coil shock with TrunnionMount and dimensions of 205x65 mm. This combination ensures excellent damping and control on rough terrain.

The Reign SX is supplied without pedals, giving the rider the option to fit their preferred pedals. The bottom bracket is a Shimano Pressfit, whilst the crankset consists of a Praxis Cadet HD M24 with a 32T chainring and a 55 mm chainline. The cassette is a Shimano Deore M4100 with a 10–46T range, and the drivetrain is completed by a KMX X-10 chain.

The handlebars are GIANT Contact SL TR35 with a 20 mm rise, paired with GIANT Tactal Pro Single Lock-On grips and a Truvativ Descendant Direct Mount 35 stem. The rims are GIANT AM, measuring 29" at the front and 27.5" at the rear; both are tubeless-ready with an internal width of 30 mm. The tyres are Maxxis Assegai: 29x2.5WT at the front with 3C MaxxTerra, EXO+ and TR specifications, and 27.5x2.5WT at the rear with 3C MaxxGrip, DoubleDown and TR specifications. The bike is supplied tubeless-ready.

The hubs are GIANT Boost, and the spokes are from Sapim. The saddle is a GIANT Romero, mounted on a GIANT Contact seatpost with a diameter of 30.9 mm. Additional equipment includes an MRP AMG chain guide and a tubeless kit containing fluid, valves, tyre levers, a valve core remover and instructions.
