GIANT Fathom E+ EX

The "Fathom E+ EX" model from GIANT, released in 2023, is a versatile e-bike available at a price of 3599 EUR. The frame is made from AluxX and is fitted with an integrated speed sensor and is compatible with the EnergyPak Plus. The rear wheel is secured via a 141 mm quick-release.

Braking is provided by the Tektro HD-M280 system with 180 mm discs, both on the brakes and the brake levers. The drivetrain consists of a Shimano Deore M5120 Shadow+ with 10 speeds, whilst the shift levers are from the Shimano Deore M4100 range. Front suspension is provided by an SR Suntour XCR 34 LO-R fork with 120 mm of travel and a Boost 15x110 mm axle.

Lighting is provided by the Herrmans H-BLACK MR8 front light (60 lux) and the Axa Blueline Steady E6. The pedals are made of aluminium and the crankset consists of an FSA Comet with an FSA MegaTooth 36T chainring. The cassette is a Shimano Deore CS-M4100 with a gear ratio of 11–46T, and the drivetrain is completed by a KMC e.10 Sport chain, which is specially optimised for e-bikes.

The handlebars are GIANT Connect TR Riser with a diameter of 31.8 mm and a rise of 20 mm, complemented by GIANT Tactal single lock-on grips. The stem is a GIANT Contact with a length of 110 mm and the handlebars are 620 mm wide. The rims are GIANT XCT 29", tubeless-ready with an internal width of 25 mm, and the tyres are Maxxis Rekon Race 29 x 2.25" clincher tyres, which are supplied with inner tubes as standard.

The hubs are Shimano MT410 models and the spokes are made of stainless steel. The saddle is a GIANT Sport model and is fitted to a GIANT seatpost with a diameter of 30.9 mm. The bike also features a GIANT KSA18 kickstand and a GIANT Rack-It MIK luggage rack.

Power is provided by a GIANT SyncDrive Sport motor with 70 Nm of torque, supported by Yamaha. The battery is a GIANT EnergyPak Smart Integrated 625 with a capacity of 625 Wh and is compatible with the EP Plus RangeExtender. The display is the RideControl Dash 2in1 and the charger is a GIANT EnergyPak SmartCharger Compact with 4A.

The frame geometry comprises a reach of 403 mm, a stack of 607 mm, a seat tube length of 520 mm and a top tube length of 595 mm. The head tube angle is 73 degrees, as is the seat tube angle. The head tube length is 200 mm, the chainstay length is 425 mm and the bottom bracket drop is 70 mm. The fork offset is 50 mm and the standover height is 767 mm. The crank length is 175 mm and the wheelbase measures 1045 mm in total.

The “Fathom E+ EX” thus offers a well-thought-out combination of comfort, performance and versatility, making it suitable for both everyday use and more demanding tours.
