GIANT Explore E+ 2

The “Explore E+ 2” model from GIANT, released in 2023, is a versatile e-bike suitable for a range of uses. The price for this model is 3299 EUR. The bike’s frame is made from AluxX and features an integrated speed sensor. It is also EnergyPak Plus-compatible and has a 12x148 mm SRAM UDH derailleur hanger.

The Explore E+ 2’s braking system consists of Tektro HD-M275 disc brakes with 180 mm rotors. The brake levers are also from Tektro and offer reliable braking performance. The drivetrain features a Shimano Alivio M3100 9-speed system, controlled by Shimano Altus SL-M2010 shift levers.

The bike is fitted with an SR Suntour XCM 34 LO suspension fork, which offers 100 mm of travel and features a Boost 15x110 mm system. The model’s front light is a Recon HL50 with a luminous intensity of 50 lux, complemented by AXA NYX lighting. The pedals are made of aluminium and provide a stable platform.

The crankset is made from forged aluminium with a Direct Spider and a chain guard, as well as a 46T chainring. The cassette is a Shimano CS-HG200 with an 11–36T range. The drivetrain is complemented by a KMC e.9 Sport chain, which is specially optimised for e-bikes.

The handlebars on the Explore E+ 2 are GIANT Connect Riser with a diameter of 31.8 mm and a rise of 19 mm. The grips are GIANT Connect Ergo Max Plus, which provide extra comfort. The stem is a GIANT Contact model.

The rims are GIANT eX25, tubeless-ready with an internal width of 25 mm, and the tyres are Crosscut Gravel 2 in size 700x57c (622x57), also tubeless-ready; however, the bike is supplied with inner tubes as standard. The hubs are GIANT eTracker and the spokes are made of stainless steel.

The saddle is a Selle Royal Vivo Ergo Moderate Unisex model, mounted on a GIANT seatpost with a diameter of 30.9 mm. A GIANT KSA40 kickstand ensures the bike stands securely, whilst an ABUS Xplus battery lock provides additional security. The MIK HD luggage rack offers ample space for luggage.

At the heart of the e-bike is the GIANT SyncDrive Sport2 motor, powered by Yamaha, which delivers a torque of 75 Nm. The battery is a GIANT EnergyPak Smart Integrated 625 with a capacity of 625 Wh and is compatible with the EP Plus RangeExtender. A GIANT EnergyPak SmartCharger Compact with a charging current of 4A is used for charging.
