GIANT Explore E+ 1

The 2023 “Explore E+ 1” model from GIANT is a versatile e-bike that stands out for its high-quality components and robust construction. Priced at 3,699 EUR, this bike offers good value for money for discerning cyclists.

The Explore E+ 1’s frame is made from AluxX, a material renowned for its lightness and stability. The integrated speed sensor and compatibility with the EnergyPak Plus battery ensure efficient power transfer and an extended range. The bike features a 12x148 mm SRAM UDH derailleur hanger, which ensures precise gear changes.

The brakes are Shimano Deore BR-M200 with a 180 mm diameter, complemented by Shimano Deore BL-M201 brake levers, which deliver reliable braking performance. Gear changes are managed by a Shimano Deore LinkGlide M5130 10-speed system, controlled by the Shimano Deore LinkGlide M5130 shifter. This enables smooth and precise gear changes.

The SR Suntour XCM 34 LO fork, with 100 mm of travel and Boost 15x110 mm, ensures comfortable suspension and stability on uneven trails. Lighting is provided by the Recon HL50 front light with 50 lux and the AXA NYX, which features a brake light function.

The bike is fitted with aluminium platform pedals and features a forged alloy crankset with a Direct Spider/chainguard and a 46T chainring. The cassette is a Shimano LinkGlide CS-LG400-10 with a gear ratio of 11–43T, whilst the chain is a Shimano LinkGlide CN-LG500.

The handlebars are GIANT Connect Riser with a width of 31.8 mm and a rise of 19 mm, complemented by GIANT Connect Ergo Max Plus grips and a GIANT Contact stem. The rims are GIANT eX25, tubeless-ready with an internal width of 25 mm, whilst the tyres are Crosscut Gravel 2 in size 700x57c (622x57), also tubeless-ready, but supplied with an inner tube.

The hubs are GIANT eTracker, and the spokes are Sapim Race and Sapim E-Lite respectively. The saddle is a Selle Royal Vivo Ergo Moderate Unisex, mounted on a GIANT seatpost with a diameter of 30.9 mm. A GIANT KSA40 kickstand ensures the bike stands securely.

For added security, the bike is fitted with an ABUS Xplus battery-powered lock. The MIK HD luggage rack offers ample carrying capacity. Power is provided by the GIANT SyncDrive Sport2 motor with 75 Nm of torque, powered by Yamaha. The integrated battery, the GIANT EnergyPak Smart Integrated 625, has a capacity of 625 Wh and is compatible with the EP Plus RangeExtender. The charger is a GIANT EnergyPak SmartCharger Compact with a 4A charging current.
