Diamant Rubin (Einstieg: mittel)

The ‘Rubin’ model from Diamant, released in 2023, is a sturdy and reliable bike in the mid-price range, priced at 899 EUR. The frame is made from Alpha Gold aluminium and features internal cable routing, giving it a clean, tidy look. The frame is also fitted with eyelets for a luggage rack and mudguards, and features a post-mount disc brake mount as well as a kickstand mount with a 135 x 5 mm quick-release axle. The bike’s maximum load capacity is 136 kg, whilst it weighs 15 kg.

The brakes are Shimano MT201 hydraulic disc brakes, fitted to both the front and rear, with a disc diameter of 160 mm. These provide reliable braking performance in a wide range of conditions. The gear lever is a Shimano Alivio M3100 with 9 speeds, whilst the front derailleur is a Shimano Acera T3000. The fork is made of steel and is also designed for disc brakes, featuring a flat-mount bracket and luggage rack eyelets.

Lighting is provided by the Spanninga Brio front light and the Spanninga Vivo XDS rear light, which features a parking light function and LED technology. The pedals are non-slip and fitted with reflectors, which enhance safety on the road. The crankset is a Shimano MT210 with a chain guard and a crank arm length of 175 mm. The cassette is a Shimano HG200, also 9-speed, with a gear range of 11–36 teeth.

The handlebars are aluminium low-riser bars, 660 mm wide, fitted with ergonomic Herrmans Clik grips for added comfort. The stem is a Bontrager Comp, Blendr-compatible, with a length of 90 mm. The headset is integrated and features sealed cartridge bearings. The tyres are Bontrager H2 Hard-Case Lite in size 700 x 35C, fitted to a Bontrager Connection wheelset with hollow-section rims.

The saddle is a Selle Royal Vivo Moderate Ergo, fitted to a Bontrager aluminium seatpost. Plastic mudguards from SKS and a Pletscher Comp Flex 18 kickstand are also included. The MIK-compatible aluminium luggage rack can carry up to 25 kg, making it very practical for everyday use.

With a top tube length of 57 mm and a wheelbase of 107 mm, the Rubin model offers balanced geometry for a comfortable ride. The head tube and seat tube angles are 72 and 74 degrees respectively, which promotes a comfortable riding position. Overall, the Diamant Rubin offers well-thought-out features and solid engineering, making it an attractive mid-range entry-level model.
